National Mushroom Conference
The 2008 conference will be held in Melbourne,
Victoria.
from the 1st to the 5th October
This year we will again have International experts at the
conference. These include:
Geert Lemmers -
Compost Management – Irrigated versus Dry
Land.
This will cover:
- variation in straws( dry climate, wet climate),
- different analysis methods used, what is important
in straw quality( for composting and for growing mushrooms),
- why do we go anaerobic, when do we go anaerobic and
its impact on process and compost quality, managing
the composting process according to straw quality.
Geert will return later in the conference
to give us an update his experiences managing Trichoderma
Dr Julien Alston on "Levy
Funded Generic Promotions - a Californian Perspective"
Look out for presentations on the following topics:
- Industrial relations
- Climate change
- Economic outlook
- Pest and disease management service update
- Engaging and retaining staff
Of special interest this year will be
a presentation on the subject of “Change
– It’s with us forever – get used to it".
Tom Potter the owner of Eagle
Boys Pizza will deliver this hard hitting
talk.
The farm walk will be a full day event, visiting the very
large Mushroom Exchange farm at Mernda,
plus a visit to CSIRO at Werribee.
The venue for the conference is in the heart of the live
theatre area, along side China Town and not that far away
from the designer outlet shops.
Melbourne is renowned for Live Theatre, Shopping and Restaurants,
so come on down and experience it first hand.
